Contact cleaning with Teknek
Since 1987, Teknek has been continuously developing material formulations for elastomer rollers and adhesive rolls to remove contaminants in a variety of high-tech applications such as displays, organic electronics, EV batteries, micro-LEDs and optical films. Specialized elastomers with a specialized material formulation are required for efficient particle removal, which are not available from conventional roll manufacturers.
Absolute cleanliness
Teknek uses contact cleaning. Compared to other cleaning methods such as ultrasonics, vacuum cleaning or air curtains, contact cleaning is also 98% efficient in the range from 20nm to 30µm.
Clever technology
The cleaning rollers effectively collect particles from surfaces and remove them without leaving any residue or damaging sensitive components. Contact cleaning is carried out by special elastomer cleaning rollers. The rollers transfer the particles to an adhesive roll (specially designed for the process), where they adhere permanently and can be disposed of.
Chemical Knowhow
Elastomers are dimensionally stable but elastically deformable plastics that adapt to the surface of the printed circuit board. Teknek has developed special formulations that minimize the potential for electrostatic charge build-up to the absolute minimum, thus eliminating the need for electrostatic discharge. That is why Teknek contact cleaning systems meet the ANSI/ESDs20.20 standard, also known as IEC 61340-5-1.
Engineering Excellenz
Because contact cleaning involves the weight of two cleaning rollers and an adhesive roller on the PCB, Teknek has a new patented system that keeps the PCB strain rates at less than the IPC/JEDEC 9704 prescribed 200 microstrain units.
Made in Scotland
Teknek develops and manufactures its own cleaning rollers and adhesive rollers from formulation to finished product, and has an independent, qualified testing laboratory verify compliance with the standards.
